A FEW WORDS FROM YOUR PUBLISHER

Welcome to another issue of the "{ENTER YOUR EZINE NAME}" newsletter.  I hope you enjoy today's issue.

Search engine traffic is gold. You don't need to
be Einstein to work that out. So today I would
like to share with you a number of linking
strategies that will help you to gain a higher
search engine ranking to generate more traffic to
your site...

For all the seeming "intelligence" displayed by
its system, Google is still a machine. This means
that its every process is determined by an
algorithm that, once cracked, is susceptible to
exploitation.

Google's current algorithm (emphasis on
"current," more on that later) decides the
ranking of an indexed page based on the latter's
keyword density, quality of content and the
number of links that refer visitors to your site.

In recent years, people have tried to manipulate
page content, but eventually, every mechanical
program that was invented to generate, rotate and
fabricate content ended up as utter to moderate
failures.

Links, on the other hand, are easier to
"machinate". There have been some proven methods
that were designed by webmasters the world over.
These linking strategies have been able to
generate visitors for the site, as well as a
higher ranking in search queries. Currently
(again, emphasis on "currently"), these
techniques have yet to fail.

Here's a rundown of these powerful linking
strategies...

1. Find a well-visited forum, signup and then
start posting. Your signature box should include
a link to your site. This way every time a
visitor view a thread where you posted, your link
will be displayed prominently.

2. Find a well-visited free articles site. Write
an article and submit it to their database.
Include a link to your website in the allotted
resource box. Every time a visitor searches for a
topic relevant to your article, your work will
appear. Plus every time a visitor reads your
work, your link would be displayed prominently!

3. Do the suggestion above and allow your readers
to distribute your article or use it as website
content, provided they include and don't alter
resource box. This is paramount to making your
article viral, meaning, it has the potential of
gaining more inbound links at an exponential
rate.

4. Look for a site that is related to yours. Send
the webmaster a testimonial about his products,
if he is selling any, or about the content of his
site. As is usually the case, the webmaster won't
be able to resist publishing your testimonial,
and as courtesy, would add a link to your site.

5. Look for high traffic sites that sell
products. Write reviews about them and post the
same to your site or blog. Send the webmasters a
link to you reviews, and they'll feel a moral
obligation to thank you with a link. This uses
the same principle as the previous strategy.

6. You could also try reciprocal linking, that
is, publishing another site's link in exchange
for that site publishing yours. Do not do this
often, however, as search engines frown on a
large quantity of "ping-pong" visitor exchanges.

7. There are many free directory listings and
free advertising sites out there which would
provide for easy one-way links. Subscribe to as
many of these as you could find.

8. Once your Page Rank (PR) increases, you could
start trying link membership sites. These are
networks that require a token fee for access to
many websites that would allow your links to be
displayed.

9. Publish quality content. If you populate your
site with definitive and original information,
you might not have to look for links anymore, as
webmasters would be knocking at your door asking
if they could link their pages to your site.

Now, I did mention the word "currently" during
the earlier parts of my comments. This is because
Google has recently patented a link history
tracking system that might enable it to spoil the
party for some of these linking strategies.

But that is a tale for another day, or a topic
for another article to be more precise.

As of now, these linking strategies work and they
work well. So you might as well capitalize on
them as much as possible!

A 3 Step Plan to Generating an Income Online

"Time is more valuable than money. You can get
more money but you cannot get more time." - Jim
Rohn

Earning an income on the internet is a process
that in broad terms involves three stages:

1. Getting your product (acquisition)

2. Developing your product presentation

3. Promoting the product

In this article, "product" means any tangible
product, digital products (ebooks and software)
and services such as membership sites, web design
and development, hosting,
"print on demand" for
ebooks, fulfillment for orders and so on.

By necessity you will spend time in each of these
stages. Each stage will involve a learning phase
and an action phase. It's important to identify
clearly what stage of development you are
currently working on and to focus on completing
that stage.

1. Getting your product (acquisition).

Choose between your own product and an affiliate
product.

This will involve identifying a demand using for
example surveys or the popularity of search
terms.

Key Point: Once you have your product you can
stop spending time looking at other product
possibilities for the time being.

2. Developing your product presentation.

Once you have chosen your product you will need
to develop a presentation.

This will include your website primarily and can
also include autoresponder sequences and a
newsletter.

Key Points: Once your website and presentation
process is completed you can move on to the
promotion. You can always improve the
presentation but once your presentation is
"presentable" you should move on to promotion.
Don't get caught up trying to make things
perfect. Good, yes; perfect, no. The reality is
things can always be changes.

It doesn't matter if you have the best product in
your niche and the best presentation if nobody
knows about it. Give your presentation your best
shot and then start promoting.

3. Promoting the product.

No matter now good your product and presentation
are, you must get your presentation in front of
your intended audience or nothing happens.

"We have to become better at promoting what we do than doing what we do."

This is where it is also important to be clear
about what stage you are in. Remember, time is
limited, so if you have already chosen your
product and developed your presentation it is not
productive to keep looking for products or
spending a great deal of time "tweaking" your
presentation.

Time can always be spent tweaking sales copy,
images, layout, web presentation, upgrading or
trying new software, investigating new product
opportunities (before the current one is
complete), improving design skills, keeping up
with the changing web "standards"... The list can
seem endless.

Key Point: Time is better spent developing a
clear promotional strategy and putting it into
action. Only when you are seeing results from
your promotional activities should you consider
altering your presentation (such as modifying
headlines and sales copy) to assess how that
affects conversion of prospects to customers.

Here are some examples:

- Write two newsletters each month - Run a solo
ad each week - Purchase 500 double-optin
subscribers each month - Conduct a Pay Per Click
campaign with $x budget each week/month - Make
three new blog entries each week - Create ten new
web pages each week

Here are a few tips to keep you on track:

1. Name your project

You may name your project as a final name of the
product or you may just give it a code name that
means something to you.

2. Understand what part of the three step process
you are in: Acquisition, presentation or
promotion.

Here is a simple question to ask yourself to
check if you are on track with your time budget,
"What is this activity designed to do?" or
perhaps, "What is the outcome of this activity?"

This will help you to identify if you are
spending time in the wrong area at the wrong
time.

3. Set up check lists to make sure everything is
covered. Focus on completion.

4. Promotion: Clearly define your action steps.

5. Track the results or your promotional campaign
in terms of traffic, click through rates,
subscribers and purchasers. Include costs of
conducting your campaign and compare that to your
sales to determine your return on investment. It
is only by tracking the results of the promotion
that you will know how to effectively change the
presentation for further testing.

A spreadsheet is an invaluable tool as a template
for specifying your promotional campaign and also
for tracking results, costs and return on
investment. Adding in columns for each day of the
week allows you to allocate your time so that all
your promotions are covered in a time effective
manner. This becomes your business gauge by which
you assess the effectiveness of your promotional
campaign.

Understanding the three stages of the business
process and the stage you are in, using
checklists and tracking your results using
business gauges are the proven ways to maximize
your time, your effectiveness and your profits.

make sure they get listed because people who

INNOVATIVE Marketing Strategies

Do You Ever Wonder What Your Customers Want?

Most business owners ask themselves that question daily. I know I do - and I bet you do too.

I was watching one of my favorite marketers speak recently and he said something that struck a chord with me and got me thinking. He said "people want magic bullets".

They want the answer to their problems. A quick fix for their woes. A simple solution that will make their world a better place - and they want it now!

That phrase made me ask...

What magic bullets do my prospects want and do I have them? How can I turn my products into the magic bullets that my prospects can't live with out?

Side note: The best way to find out what your prospects want is to survey them but, that is a whole other article.

Now, asking these questions won't help you get inside your prospects mind but, it will get you in the right mind set.

Think about it. When you have a problem, you want a solution right? You don't want to wait do you? You want a quick fix and you want it now. You want a magic bullet.

Guess what... so does your prospect!

Have you ever watched an infomercial and it felt like they pushed every one of your buttons. What they were selling was the answer to all your problems? Yeah?

You just wanted to rip out your credit card and say take my money... please! You just can't wait until you can get your hands on that magic bullet.

We've all felt like this, and it's the magic bullets that
get you every time.

For instance, let's say your target market is acne
sufferers.

Now magic bullets don't have a price cap, so if you have ever had acne you can identify with the pain and agony that acne sufferers go through...

...and you will understand that a sufferer will try and
buy just about anything that offers relief from their
suffering - no matter what the cost.

Are you starting to see? Now start thinking...

What you are selling?
What solutions do you have to offer?
How can you solve peoples problems?
What magic bullets can you pull out of your product or service?

Once you pull those magic bullets out of your hat and put them right under your prospects nose then the real magic will begin.

TODAY'S CHUCKLE

[OR ENTER YOUR OWN CHUCKLE]

Baseball in Heaven?

Two buddies Bob and Earl were two of the biggest
baseball fans in America.

Their entire adult lives, Bob and Earl discussed
baseball history in the winter, and they pored
over every box score during the season. They went
to 60 games a year. They even agreed that whoever
died first would try to come back and tell the
other if there was baseball in heaven.

One summer night, Bob passed away in his sleep
after watching the Yankee victory earlier in the
evening. He died happy. A few nights later, his
buddy Earl awoke to the sound of Bob's voice from
beyond.

"Bob, Is that you?" Earl asked.

"Of course it me," Bob replied.

"This is unbelievable!" Earl exclaimed. "So tell
me, is there baseball in heaven?"

"Well, I have some good news and some bad news
for you. Which do you want to hear first?"

"Tell me the good news first."

"Well, the good news is that yes there is
baseball in heaven, Earl."

"Oh, that is wonderful! So what could possibly be
the bad news?"

"You're pitching tomorrow night."  <grin>
